In 2008, in la Chaux-de-Fonds, 2300 Plan 9 – Les Étranges Nuits du Cinéma presented the first cine-concert ever to happen during their festival. In the following 11 years, 2300 Plan 9 has seen many artists take up the stage and show their own creations. Translating each time, with different themes and perspective, the movie of their choice into music and delivering it to an ever-growing crowd. After all having invested themselves in the festival at some point, the band members were commissioned by the committee to create a cine-concert for the 2021 edition. It was for this reason that they formed the band LUHLÆ in 2020. Choosing the movie was quick and obvious. The Witch by Robert Eggers released in 2015 was the perfect canvas to compose their soundtrack. The atmosphere of the movie was a constant reminder of their favourite albums and of the city they live in, la Chaux-de-Fonds. they were confident, with a strong intent of letting their mutual musical influences show through this 1h30 cine-concert, where dread, fear, oppression, evil and deliverance reigns. This cine-concert is a perfect balance between black metal, ambient, noise, post-rock and drone. The long awaited showing of the project in august 2021 was, once again, a sold-out evening for the festival. For them, it was a very important event that they’d dreamed of making together for years, which is what made this experience even more intense. They came to a mutual agreement to change the name of their project LUHLÆ. It will now continue under the name YRRE. A record of an adaptation of the cine concert had been released under this name on Humus Records in January 2022.
