Initially a street musician, Stéphane Blok later studied music at the École de Jazz et Musiques Actuelles de Lausanne from 1990 to 1994. During this time, he served as an assistant to Antoine Auberson in creating music for films and theater. At the age of 23, he released his first six-track EP, « Esperanza Nicholasohn, » followed two years later by the album « Les Hérétiques. » He wrote his first short story, intended for the theater, titled « Les jours de suie et ceux de cendre » for the Duô Matô company, directed by Denis Maillefer.
In 1998, he signed an artist contract with the label Boucherie Productions. The albums « Le principe du sédentaire » (1998) and « Lobotome » (2000) were produced by the Parisian label, along with the music video « Cyberceuse » directed by Pierre-Yves Borgeaud. Over 300 concerts followed the release of various albums, featuring Arthur Besson, Marcket Besson, Gregoire Guhl, and Philippe de Rham.
In 2016, Stéphane Blok was designated co-librettist for the Fête des Vignerons 2019. His exploration continued with the practice of the fretless baryton guitar in « Poèmes de la veille. » A first version of the album was released in the summer of 2020 under the rock label Humus Records, which would subsequently publish Stéphane’s albums along with his back catalog. The texts and poems of Stéphane Blok have been published by Bernard Campiche Éditeur since 2012.
